Vitreolysis, also known as floater laser treatment, is a non-invasive, pain-free procedure that can eliminate the visual disturbance caused by floaters. You will need to have a consultation appointment with Dr. Met before the procedure is scheduled to verify if you are a candidate for the procedure. The procedure is done in clinic by Dr. Met and can take 20-45 minutes to perform. During the treatment, an anesthetic drop is used prior to a contact lens placed on the eye, which allows Dr. Met to use the laser to evaporate the floaters. Typically, patients will need more than one treatment in order to achieve a satisfactory result. Only one eye is treated during each session.

Post-procedural Care:

It is normal to have markedly reduced vision for 2-4 hours due to the dilation and gel in your eye(s). Because your eye is numbed, please be very careful NOT to touch the operated eye with tissue or your fingers. When near the eye, be sure the eyelid is tightly closed to prevent inadvertent damage.

It is normal to see black specks and small spots for a number of days after the procedure. Floaters may take 1-2 months to improve after the procedure.

None. It is ok to use artificial tears if minor irritation occurs.

Follow up:

One month follow up with Dr. Met at Anderson & Shapiro Eye Care after procedure, or as directed.
