What to consider when choosing a frame

Here are some tips to consider when shopping for new glasses frames!

Face Shape
  • Round Face
Choose a frame style that adds balance to your features and look for something square or rectangular.
Avoid rimless, round, or small frames.
  • Oval Face
If your face is more oval shaped, look for frames that have a strong, bold bridge (the part connecting the two lenses). Also, try to size the frame so it’s wider than your face and try out some geometric shapes.
Avoid overlarge frames that cover a lot of your face.
  • Square Face
Oval or round glasses will balance the strong angles of a square face. Try to find a frame that can sit higher up on the bridge of your nose.
    Avoid geometric shaped frames.
  • Diamond Face
Find a frame to accentuate your cheekbones and features, like oval or cat eye glasses. Try to size them so they’re wider than your face.
    Avoid narrow or square frames.
  • Heart-Shaped Face
Look for frames with low-set temples or bold lines at the bottom of the frame. These help balance the lower part of your face with the top.
Avoid styles where the bold features and focus is at the top of the frame.
Frame Color
Choose the right glasses frames color based on your skin tone

Moreso than hair color or eye color, your skin tone will be the best guide for picking glasses frames colors that suit you. Of course, these are only suggestions and don’t let us stop you from getting those funky yellow glasses, or a nice turquoise.

If your skin has pink or blue undertones, choose something to complement, like silver, black, dark tortoise, pink, purple, blue, mauve and gray.  These will avoid washing out your cool complexion.

However, if your skin is yellow, bronze, or golden, your warm complexion will go well with light tortoise, brown shades, gold or honey, beige, and olive green

Lifestyle

Also consider what you’ll be using your glasses for. Will you be doing activity or sport? Perhaps you need a more durable material that can survive getting knocked around. Perhaps you want something to show off in the office. If you’re in an industry that needs safety glasses, you’ll want them to be well sized to fully protect your eyes.

Our optician can help you choose something suitable and make you look like a million bucks.
