C. Joseph Anderson, M.D., is one of the co-founders of Anderson & Shapiro Eye Care. Dr. Anderson is currently Chief of Ophthalmology at Memorial Hospital of Iowa County and has been Associate Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Wisconsin for the last three decades, teaching residents and other ophthalmologists. Dr. Anderson graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Notre Dame and completed medical school and his residency in ophthalmology at the University of Wisconsin. During this time, he was elected to the highest medical honor society of Alpha Omega Alpha. Following his residency, he completed fellowship training in corneal and inflammatory eye diseases at the University of Indiana Medical School.

Dr. Anderson frequently lectures on cataract and refractive surgery and has invented and improved safety techniques for performing ocular anesthesia. He was the first ophthalmologist in the state of Wisconsin to perform an intraocular lens implant using the Array multifocal intraocular lens. Dr. Anderson has been named to the “Best Doctors in Madison” list, as well as “Best Doctors in America” and “Who’s Who”.

Dr. Anderson and his wife, Carole, have two children, Nicole and Jon, and two cats, Bartles and James. They are very proud of the fact that their daughter, Nicole, completed her fellowship in ophthalmology and is a partner at Mississippi Vision in Jackson, Mississippi. Their son, Jon, is an attorney with his own practice, specializing in tax and business law, in Green Bay, Wisconsin. In his leisure time, Dr. Anderson enjoys running, golfing, traveling, skiing, and playing with his granddaughter.
